Entry Description

Emerge is an innovative wall light designed to transform how we experience and interact within our home environment. By integrating tactile pulleys with bamboo panels, Emerge enables users to shape and manipulate warm light, creating a dynamic and personalized ambiance. This interactive lighting solution not only enhances aesthetic appeal but also fosters mindful engagement and deeper connections among those bathed in its glow. As Juhani Pallasmaa observes, “bright homogeneous light blinds imagination and connection.” Emerge’s warm, dimmed lighting encourages users to let go, explore their imagination, reflect, and connect with others. Its goal is to enhance the interplay between space, light, shadows, and the people enveloped within its embrace.
In response to the fast-paced nature of contemporary life and the prevalence of surface-level interactions, Emerge seeks to establish a sanctuary within the home. Its design promotes slowing down, unwinding, and engaging in a reflective experience. By offering a hands-on approach to lighting, Emerge facilitates a meaningful dialogue between users and their surroundings, empowering them through tactile modularity.
The core innovation of Emerge lies in its interactive mechanism. The pulleys allow users to adjust each bamboo panel, varying the light’s intensity and patterns. This playful interaction customizes the lighting environment and
Sustainability Approach

Emerge embraces sustainability by focusing on the emotional bond between users and their objects, particularly in the realm of lighting design. While traditional sustainability efforts often concentrate on aspects like material selection, recyclability, and manufacturing processes, Emerge shifts the spotlight to how fostering an emotional attachment to an object can enhance its longevity.
When people form a strong emotional connection with a product, they're more likely to repair, upgrade, or repurpose it rather than discard it. In some cases, this attachment can even lead users to keep the object beyond its original function, demonstrating a commitment to its continued use.
Emerge’s approach prioritizes this emotional relationship by resonating with users on a deeper level. It not only stands out with its strong, distinct lines that immediately capture attention, but it also communicate
