Entry DescriptionThis small led light came to life as a bespoke lighting fixture for the C.P Cavafy Archive in Athens. It was designed to meet lighting designer’s, Eleftheria Deko & Associates office, lighting study specifications and to serve the architects vision, flux-office, for this great project under the Onassis Foundation auspices. Growing up it became a versatile product used in public as well as in private places to showcase exhibits and artifacts or as a surface spot light for architectural use.
It is made of solid brass oxidized by hand to appear aged or it can be powder coated. The small dimensions, D14xH29xW31mm makes it discreet so the displayed objects are not disturbed by a volume that catches the eye. The lighting source is 1W power led with a very high CRI95 and a beam angle from 10° to 45° so the colours, shapes and textures remain intact, allowing the observer to enjoy them as they really are. It rotates on two axes to adjust to points of interest and eliminate shadow noise and glare. It can be installed on a surface with the help of a magnet or alongside with a mini track made of solid brass D6mm, which after machining bears two integrated copper wires to curry electric current. 24V power is supplied to the track to be safe even if touched.
Machining, assembly and finishings are made by hand by our craftsmen in the workshop.
Sustainability ApproachOur aim is not to waste anything. When we design we keep in mind to organize the recycling process of the wastes during machining the raw materials and in a long term consideration, to build fixtures that can be repaired if needed and reused for years ahead. In this case, because of the limited dimensions of the fixture we had to mechanically process solid brass. Brass wastes are valuable even as wastes, so it is a benefit to all involved parties to be meticulously gathered and recycled. Chemicals used for finishings handled with all precautions for the craftsmen and disposed following reverently the rules, because environment matters and is our generation’s task to prevent any further damage.
Company DescriptionLightson is a lighting manufacturing workshop in Athens, specialized on designing and producing luminaries for architectural and decorative use. Our lighting fixtures are entirely manufactured in our workshop by our craftsmen and that is why we can be fiexible to the needs of the projects we undertake in collaboration with architects and lighting designers. From these valuable collaborations, together with our own design and know-how, products arise that cover the wider needs of lighting and highlighting buildings and spaces in Greece and abroad.
