Entry DescriptionJuzen Chemical, located in Toyama City, Toyama Prefecture, designed a new building to serve as the headquarters and a relaxation space for employees. The layout includes an entrance, lobby, main offices, cafeteria, executive offices, open-air balconies, and conference rooms. The all-glass facade provides views of the industrial park, Jinzu River, and Tateyama mountain range, symbolizing Toyama City. Wooden louvers extend over the facade to the eaves.
The facade lighting scheme highlights the wooden louvered eaves, enhancing the headquarters' symbolism and creating a warm, natural atmosphere. This lighting also transforms the factory complex's landscape, typically inorganic.
The interior lighting system adjusts brightness and color temperature based on the time of day. It provides bright white light during the day and a softer, less bright color in the evening and night, creating a gentle ambiance for employees. The color temperature varies in the main office and cafeteria, adapting to different functions.
The open-air balcony brightly illuminates the wooden deck, bridging indoor and outdoor spaces and fostering different thinking and communication styles.
