Project Location Moscow, Gorky Park
Entry DescriptionTime Forward is a unique interaction between art and time, adorning the main entrance arch of Gorky Park. This creative work has a three-part structure, symbolizing the past, present, and future.
Reflecting the historical heritage, 550 sheaves of meadow grass cascade on the roof, representing the past. The Stalinist Empire-style arch embodies the present, symbolizing permanence and the continuous flow of time. Beneath the arch, the future takes shape through a light installation by KULTURA SVETA, featuring 520 neon elements resembling roots or neural networks.
The project was completed in just three weeks, requiring inventive solutions and careful attention to materials and construction techniques. Flexible LED neon on wire was used, but wind conditions demanded a thicker wire for stability. Architects collaborated to experiment with coil diameter and density, optimizing the structure. Nicknamed "Curls," each of the 520 neon pieces was hand-twisted to ensure uniqueness.
The installation visually narrates the passage of time, from the past through the present, and toward an unknown future.
Sustainability ApproachAll components of the installation were created from sustainable materials, with care for the historic structure and the environment.
