Entry DescriptionIn 2024, Michael Wong began his “Lonely Planet 2.0” concert tour, built around a robot-themed story. The show, with integrated lighting effects, guides the audience through an emotional path from loneliness to companionship, then back to solitude, and finally, self-healing.
The lighting design aims to take the audience from the nebulae of the universe into the vastness of the galaxy. By combining different color temperatures of lighting with video visuals, the show creates a vibrant and ever-changing atmosphere across different dimensions of time and space. Red light strips and white laser beams together form a three-dimensional space, immersing the audience in an infinite universe where they can find their own personal corner. The use of the light strips is then extended, combining with video images to present a dynamic light wall that enhances the sense of movement, as if a speeding train is passing by.
This performance also features LED dots equipped with servo motors, simulating planets that continually rotate in space. The movements of the light dots are designed in sync with the music and video visuals, just like planets orbiting a star, accompanying the singer as the lighting waving with the artist's emotional expression. The seemingly random beams of light convey a sense of freedom, encouraging the audience to be fearless and true to themselves in their own world.
Sustainability ApproachThis performance made extensive use of LED lighting, achieving a refined visual effect while also contributing to environmental sustainability. Additionally, to reduce energy consumption during rehearsals, the team utilized lighting simulation diagrams for pre-visualization, further demonstrating the meticulous planning and environmental considerations behind this production.
