Entry Description

This project is the first community located in an Internet-famous market in Changzhou. Resembling a mountain that faces a river, this architecture is characterized with an Eastern charm that holds auspicious “chi” and good vibes. The lighting design follows and develops the daytime characteristics of the building façade and thus achieves a perfect combination of lighting art and architectural aesthetics. The architectural lighting is well integrated into the curtain wall design, and the lighting control system fully presents the project’s agility and elegance at night.

Lighting is inspired by the oriental charm, using flowing light to outline a unique urban skyline amidst the cityscape. Adding twinkling starlight enhances the lifelike form of the architecture, presenting a poetic landscape of elegance and dynamism in the night.

Different lighting approaches are applied to each facade of the building to interpret its multifaceted character. Since the interior spaces above the ground floor are all apartments, we have designed some ingenious lighting details combined with curtain walls to perfectly conceal the lighting fixtures within them. We have also strictly controlled the light emission angles to avoid glare.
Sustainability Approach

During the initial design phase, this project strictly adhered to relevant regulations, made reasonable lighting approaches, and determined the average brightness level of the building's exterior. All fixtures utilized LED light sources, with a focus on high-efficiency lighting. An intelligent lighting control system was implemented to establish energy-saving and nighttime modes. To prevent light pollution in the surrounding environment, strict control is exercised over the angle and power of the lights. The luminaires illuminate upwards and are shielded from stray light by overhanging eaves of the upper building layer. From 8:00 to 10:00 PM, for energy conservation purposes, only the lights at the top of the tower are retained to highlight the urban skyline at night.
