Entry DescriptionSituated along the bank of the Huangpu River amongst a cluster of shiny new skyscrapers?the New Bund 31 Performing Arts Center houses a grand theater , well positioned to become an architectural landmark and cultural destination for the community.
The interior design concept for the project is ‘The Arena,’ a contemporary interpretation of the classical archetype.
We hope to create an elegant and soothing atmosphere. Combined with the arched elements, we have designed a fixture with a special distribution. The soft light slowly extends from the vault, emphasizing the beauty of the curved surface. The sense of power and mystery of the Roman Colosseum collide in visitors’ mind.
The ceiling of the theater is arranged layer by layer with the beautiful curvature of the grille, and the lighting gradually diffuses with the curvature of the design. Elegant curves are recorded in audiences’memories and provide them with more imaginations.
The lighting of the theater should be like a container, not just a one-sided writing of grandeur. It should be able to be well substituted and layered. The lighting comes from the warm and moist vault of the ancient amphitheater, modestly accepting every different perspective of observation. In the design process, we try to imagine scenes that we have never seen before, which become clearer and more realistic through polishing.
Sustainability ApproachAll luminaires used in this project are LED light sources with high luminous efficiency, long service life and low power consumption. Each space is equipped with a dimming system. According to the needs of different time periods and scenes, various modes include welcome mode, atmosphere mode, late night mode, energy saving mode, performance mode, etc. are arranged. In the case of ensuring the space atmosphere, operating costs and energy can be effectively saved through reasonable control of the lighting switch scene during the operation period.
