Entry DescriptionPerched on the slopes of a mountain village in Cyprus, this Winery is bold and impressive in concept, structure, and lighting approach. The architectural typology led our creative team to provide the overall lighting design in a more dramatic and scenic way. We enhanced the architectural features by synchronizing -much like a breath- the light temperature and tones with the surface materials per the program –the Winery has a wine production area but also provides a unique dining experience.
Inspired by the architect’s vision, we orchestrated a lighting play following the circadian rhythm; by day, the exterior views become the protagonist, letting the scenery take the stage, while by nightfall, the interior invites the eye to freely roam through the main dining hall. The visitor experience is strong, and the senses are entertained, by creating layers of illuminated surfaces. The dining experience is discreetly illuminated, stimulating the focal point to the surrounding elements. The exterior façade pinpoints the building at all times. The three supporting pillars are independently highlighted -an ode to the wine production stages- intensifying the antithesis to the geometrical balustrade one level up.
All elements and lighting intensities make this Winery a unique reference point. Much more than a wine factory, this architectural gesture is strong yet intimate and impressive.
