Entry DescriptionRez is a tall, slender box with a black and white that stands out in the middle of the city, generally contrasts with the buildings surrounding it. The inside has also been made monochromatic to emphasize the contrast that, in our opinion, exists between the multitude of colors we have in the modern world and the fact that the only elements that truly set us apart are light and dark.
By establishing a lighting equilibrium, we carry this differentiation into the night. Using straightforward fixtures with detail research and integration, we attempt to strike a balance between ray and shadow, smooth and textured, plain and pattern.
Every space in the hotel was designed with a different interpretation of the contrast we wanted to create. In order to generate a shadow pattern for the facade and achieve a bright contrast, we placed a spotlight within the perforated AC cover on the balcony. For the main lobby stair, we installed small downlights in a circular configuration that followed its shape. This allowed the downlights to blend in with the stair element and provide the desired vertical ending. The finishing of the fixtures was carefully considered. For example, in the guestroom, we wanted the downlight to match the interior, so we chose a black housing on a white ceiling. Other than that, though, we wanted the fixtures to blend in as much as possible.
Sustainability ApproachFor this project, the main lobby, all-day dining area, meeting room, and rooftop lounge were all controlled by a DALI lighting system. As a result, we have more options for how the lighting can be controlled and programmed with a lighting control system. We can also set up different lighting scenes to improve energy efficiency. When using DALI instead of a traditional on/off system, we can also reduce the amount of cable material used while maintaining flawless functionality.
Carefully chosen downlight modular lights cover nearly 70% of the ceiling lighting fixtures non linear. In the event that the downlight lifetime already runs out, we can replace the LED engines alone and keep the lighting fixtures.
