Entry DescriptionA new private mosque in Almetyevsk required thoughtful lighting design work to emphasize the beauty of the elegant facade, tiled with white Carrara marble. The project team decided to use lighting fixtures with a neutral temperature of 4000K. Ground luminaires with asymmetrical beams illuminate the perimeter giving a soft tint to the facades.
Luminaires embedded in the steps emphasize the entrance portal shape. Light also gently reveals the relief and texture of the wooden door. Four fixtures with wide optics illuminate the dome, with each window highlighted.
The minaret is illuminated with combinations of two color temperatures: neutral 4000K outside and warm 3000K inside window opening. Compact accent fixtures with a narrow warm beam highlight the crescents.
Interior lighting is provided by linear luminaires hidden in niches: special flexible luminaires with 30° optics and a color temperature of 4000K reveal the curved wall shape, accentuate the window frames, and create a wholistic lighting environment with reflected light. The mihrab (altar part) is illuminated by concealed integrated light. Additionally, spotlights with Dark Light technology increase the required illuminance level and work as navigation inside the building.
Various fixture types and combinations of two color temperatures helped the team emphasize the shape of the building and the most expressive elements.
Sustainability ApproachLighting designers minimized light pollution through the use of correct optics and aiming. The choice of reliable equipment from a well-known manufacturer allows the lighting system to work for many years with no malfunction or need for refurbishment.
