Entry Description

Briefing: A young couple of oriental origin who enjoy hosting family and friends.
Challenge: Enhancing the contemporary and brutalist architectural proposal featuring double-height ceilings and abundant carpentry.
Solution: Our project was conceived around interactive lighting and both visual and non-visual effects, prioritizing communal gatherings and utilizing carpentry to support lighting elements. We drew inspiration from oriental motifs and their interplay with light, such as:
•Bamboo: Vertical backlighting reminiscent of bamboo groves.
•Land of the Rising Sun: Horizontal lighting defining spatial dimensions.
•Chidori: Iconic Japanese architectural element with sharp angles, serving as a focal point and emphasizing the space's grandeur.
•Shadow Theater: Lighting and shadows projecting the geometry of the environments, evoking a sense of mystery akin to the daily pre-sunrise spectacle.

All systems are seamlessly integrated and dimmable, including lighting controls and blinds, maximizing the utilization of natural light.
