Entry DescriptionLight as Contemplative Voids.
The project stems from the subtraction of volume to generate an exhibition space. The architecture unfolds in an underground context, aiming to create space through light.
A.M. Flagship store was conceived as a retail project within a shopping center. The store is located in a subterranean area with limited access to natural light, which only enters through its main entrance. The rest of the program lies underground, leading to a study on subtractions that create spaces filled with light. These spaces simulate a virtual entry of natural light, generating focal points where the store’s items are showcased. The technical lighting solution contributed to the volumetric development of these subtractions. The design focused on creating voids through luminous spaces, using internal geometries and materialities to recreate a diffused light distribution, similar to natural light finding its way through gaps and bouncing off surfaces as it passes through the space.
Sustainability ApproachA key aspect of the project is the recreation of natural light through simulated windows. The design of these windows focused on geometrical efficiency, reducing the amount of lighting technology needed. By carefully calculating geometrical measurements and optimizing the spatial layout, the project minimizes the use of energy while still achieving the desired lighting effect. This approach ensures that only the necessary amount of light and space is utilized, allowing for a more efficient application of LED technology.
These design decisions strike a balance between the aesthetic and functional quality of the lighting and a commitment to environmental responsibility, resulting in a project that stands out not only for its design but also for its sustainability approachment.
Company DescriptionLSBA Studio focuses on the exploration of light as a generative element in architecture. We investigate how natural and artificial light interact with spaces, creating a sense of habitat that enhance perception and experience. Our approach is rooted in understanding light as a medium that shapes both the environment and the rituals of those who inhabit it. Through careful experimentation, we design with light to reveal the passage of time. "Design as a visual edition of the space we inhabit through the valorization of the existing."
