Entry DescriptionSilk Court, the high-end apartment, consists of two 23-story-high buildings on a podium where the public spaces are located. The architect envisioned this structure as a mountain cracked in the middle, invisible mountain stream running in between. Therefore, stone is applied as the major facade material to resemble the rock. Furthermore, rough texture rocks were used on the interior wall of the lobby to emphasize the idea.
Inspired by the tenth-century Chinese famous ink painting ” Travelers Among Mountains and Streams”, lighting designers employ traditional painting perspective (level, far and deep) and techniques (dot, dry brush stroke and splashed ink) with modern lighting touches to echo the architect's concept.
Entrance- we bring the level perspective to the welcoming impression for the resident with dots lights on the canopy.
Lobby- in order to create a dry brush effect, we diliberately place the down lights close to the walls. With sharp shadows, the walls look like a Chinese ink painting.
Façade- far perspective with dry stroke and splash ink. The narrow light pattern symbolized Chinese vertical dry stroke. Between two building, floodlights like splash ink to wash the inner walls.
Deep perspective- the lighting combination is well balanced within environment, building and people.
Sustainability ApproachMinimal lighting- for this project with only 0.54W/sq. meter for the façade.
Energy saving - all of the lighting fixtures in this project are high efficient LED with high CRI.
Clare Control- we carefully study detail to hide the lighting fixture away from view. In addition, with proper anti-glare devices, the spilled light will not disturb residents.
