Entry Description

The Lineal Park of Ferrocarril de Cuernavaca in México City came to be created for the increase of public spaces, improving accessibility to green areas, sport and recreational spaces.
This large and enormous site comes to be a reality in the wish to reactivate forgotten spaces inside an industrial and lost habitational built emergency conditions that linked several social and economic realities along the railroad track, 4.5 kilometers long.
The Urban Architectural Lighting Project contributes in the development and transformation for the social equilibrium of mixed urban uses in the short, medium and long term actions, over a territory for preservation and transformation of human social city, day and night urban conditions.
Parque Lineal Ferrocarril de Cuernavaca is a Night Forest transformation project in México, one of the biggest cities of the world, making possible to live in a city for long term day and night hours in community human social relations.
The lighting project is a contribution for safety, communication, orientation, unification of different social layers all along the railroad track realizing a horizontal long view of the city, so different of vertical public defined areas.
Energy saving, low maintenance, low glare dark-sky technology, state of the art lighting design composition keeps aware this project as a sentinel night guard for México City!
Sustainability Approach

For “Parque Lineal Ferrocarril De Cuernavaca“ all lamps were specified because of their high CRI (Color Rendering Index), long life and high efficacy. All Luminaries used chromatic correction and glare protection accesories to prevent luminous pollution.
A carefully planned schedule and control system allows flexibility for lighting daily city life.
Optimum lighting levels have extended the use of the public area to night time. This helps to revitalize the corridor, sports and contemplation areas, provide public nightspots for social gatherings and cultural and recreational activities.
Lastly, it has significantly increased the security and protection of the citizens of the neighborhood and its surroundings, besaid has renewed our sense of the city as well as the pride and strength of the México City Community.
