Entry DescriptionPharmaceutical leader GlaxoSmithKline desired a focal point for their manufacturing facility atrium. The goal… mimic a DNA strand on a monumental, 90ft-long scale. Formed from (7) unique 3ft x 12ft-long segments, the Double Helix construct emerges visually as a single undulating entity. Each side rail consists of 2 rolled, sandwiched profiles for rigidity. 1” tubing emulates the cross-hatching of a DNA strand and cleverly provide suspension positions, hidden wire locations & structural support. Power-over-cable minimizes visibility of the suspension apparatus, eliminating unsightly cords. Connection is a breeze via plug-and-play connectors. Silicone profiles are mounted along the top & bottom of each spiraled leg, visually melding the two opposing LED strips into a single, 360-degree illuminated strand and delivering seamless illumination from any viewed angle. Could this be the largest illuminated DNA strand in the world? We’re not sure, but the Double Helix is certainly worthy of GSK’s grand inspirational vision. Floating ethereally through the space, this ambitious design transforms their façade into a welcoming beacon of healing and light.
