The new corporate offices for the client required a comprehensive collaboration between the architect, client, graphics designer, art work consultant and the lighting designer. Multiple brands were to occupy these 6 floors and we could not create 6 different architectural designs and lighting designs. The design needed to be flexible in that each brand could thread their own unique qualities through color, art and graphics. The lighting had to be in the background but be specific enough to be brand enhancing, functional and cost effective.The offices were primarily open plan and a unique lighting system was used. Every inch of ceiling height is invaluable. We used a “zero plenum” lighting system that installs within the depth of the ceiling grid and installs from below the ceiling so tilt and shift space above the ceiling was not required. The lighting system also was designed to be mounted on the ceiling grid line so the lights could relate exactly to the building and planning module.
