Entry Description

With luxury suites called Rockstar, George the Gorilla sculpture, piped 1980s music, corporate-pink spaces, curated rooms, contemporary art pieces, Alexa speakers and candy bars - the design theme is set – funky, upmarket and engaging. The Hotels also feature eggs (ovolo is egg in old Italian).

The lighting had to contribute to the theme while being compliant and functional. We were contracted 8 September and investors were locked in for an opening night in reception 28 November. There were many changes of scope as the space evolved. No pressure.

The overall goal was to romance the guest on arrival – to make them feel they were entering something completely special and different. Even from the outside, the pink theme softly caresses the street and draws you towards the space. We used our experience lighting art galleries to do justice by art work, artefacts and sculptures.
