Entry Description

Through the combination of common materials such as titanium zinc plates, bronze sheets, glass and stones, the architecture shows a black and white appearance featuring purity, lightness, transparency and exquisiteness. Through presenting on different material textures like plants, water, glass, steel, concrete, etc., the lighting creates a contrast of the virtual and reality, coldness and warmth, and a sense of depth brought by distant and close views in Chinese landscape paintings, whilst reproducing the purity and clearness of black and white Chinese paintings.
The use of light is restraining but precise, to accentuate the charm of the architecture and surroundings. The lighting with relatively low illuminance well harmonizes with architecture, landscape and people. At the entrance, the clear light that comes from inside reveals interior furnishings, to symbolize the inhibited artworks and talent of Xu Wei shown at his young age. The "tree shades" portrayed by lighting is cast on the east road, appearing like moonlight that passes through branches, which produces a sense of loneliness, calmness, and history. When strolling on the road, people seem to have a dialogue with Xu Wei.
