Entry DescriptionWhen international law firm Kingsley Napley wanted to establish an identity for their new central London building and create an environment in which they could realise their vision for a new flexible way of working to promote wellbeing and productivity, the lighting scheme needed to be equally innovative.
One outstanding feature is the statement chandelier in reception in which horizontal and vertical linear lights strike a balance between architectural and ambient lighting and provide a visual pathway into the building. Another is illuminated ceiling panels tuned to a cycle that mimics the changing colour temperature of daylight, helping to balance the circadian rhythms of people attending all-day meetings in areas devoid of natural light.
Overall, whether maintaining continuity between the 5th floor client suite and the ground floor through a subtle variation on the reception lighting feature or creating an ambience in the 4th floor café conducive to individuals meeting and collaborating, the SLLD team took inspiration from their client’s vision and rose to the challenge with a lighting scheme that made a significant contribution to the firm’s ability to achieve its ambition.
