Entry DescriptionThis Napa Valley complex represents the intersection of food, wine, art, and design through five structures connected via outdoor spaces. Retail galleries, a restaurant, and a two-story wine tasting room challenged the lighting designer with creating interconnectivity and harmony between new and old structures.
The restaurant features 100-year olive trees which read as glowing lanterns highlighted by low wattage LED floor uplights. The retailer’s own decorative chandeliers provide general illumination, modified by the lighting designer to include a narrow spot LED downlight that highlights the tabletops. A glass skylight covers the restaurant ceiling, and select moments including entry areas and the central fountain are accented via monopoints integrated into the skylight structure.
The historic 1902 structure serves as a wine vault, with decorative pendants and variable white linear LED uplights tucked within architectural details that bring the space to life. Color temperature and dimming are adjusted for curated daytime and evening scenes via the dimming control system.
Guests can celebrate Napa Valley in this luminous environment truly representative of this California brand.
