Lead Designers Tim Webber
Completion Date June 2018
Project Location New Zealand
Entry Description

The Dowel Pendant combines elegant materials, strong forms, and user customisation to create a refined pendant that’s versatility makes it a bold addition to residential spaces, as well commercial and hospitality fitouts.
The Dowel Pendant was designed not only as a light, but also as a customisable sculpture that the user can interact with and adjust to suit their space.
The classic spherical glass globe serves as the light source of the pendant, creating an ambient glow that gives the pendant a soft calmness to it’s overall presence. The hand turned walnut timber adds the perfect balance of a warm texture, solid form, and soft elegance that completes the form of the pendant. Through the inspiration of jewellery, two power cables enter the side of the timber to appear as if it is suspending the pendant, rather than hanging from a single power cable. The twin cables can be split and placed as wide or as close together as desired, providing different looks for different spaces.
