The lighting for a collection of rare, valuable bibles was designed; these are very light sensitive and could only be lit to a maximum of 50 lux. Amazing medieval wall paintings behind one of the bibles were left to glow in the dark (due to their even higher sensitivity). Throughout the exhibition Sutton Vane Associates carried out daylight and sunlight predictions to work with the exhibition designers to lower the levels of daylight. A system of specially designed hanging chains was developed in order to reduce the light.
Much work was carried out on balancing daylight with the light level requirements of the many light sensitive exhibits and giving visitors time for adaption. We also designed the lighting for the amazing stone faces to highlight and show of their character.
