Residential Lighting Design, Acton, London
With a blank canvas to design from and some fantastic architectural features designed by Dust Architects, Lighting By Plum were asked to produce a lighting scheme that; accentuated the vaulted high ceilings, utilised reflected light, avoided the use of downlights and harmonised with the architecture.
This was achieved with discreet lighting features and a creative use of decorative products. As is the key to any residential lighting design, utilising layers of light to full effect was essential and ensured the space worked on an intimate and atmospheric level as well as practical.
The extended kitchen / dining had challenges in terms of the position of the skylight. To allow maximum daylight into the space, yet ensuring artificial light was directed onto the table. This was solved utilising the Lampe Gras Acrobat fittings. These created a decorative feature yet a practical solution.
In the Master Bedroom the lighting feature behind the bed created an interesting focus yet an intimate soft level of light. This feature was designed to allow the light out but never to get a glance of the light source, another general principal that added to the success of this project.
