This mountain home is wedged into the hillside. The concrete mass grows from the ground to the sky; surrounded by pine trees that negotiate the views to all sides. Organized on three levels the home is anchored by a center stair and composed along the strong ‘North-South Axis’, which defines the directional views and the transitional experience within.
Generously daylit, the home is balanced and complemented with high-end, state of the art electrical lighting throughout. Expansive, mechanized sliding doors open to the light and air, while manually drawn drapes ensure personal daylight control. The control system (Lutron QS w/ Savant Override) ensures the full integration of Mechanical, Electrical, Lighting and Sound at the convenience for the home-owners fingertip. The interiors and furnishings add a refined quality while the energy efficient home opted for a LEED certification early on and was designed, including hydroponically heated floor slabs and thickened walls for additional thermal massing.
Designed by Faulkner Architects, the home is the culmination of a tight collaboration between the client, architect, interior, lighting designer and contractor.
