Entry DescriptionThe Eco Springwood Lamp is a study in the natural flexibility and resilience of wood, transformed into a refined lighting solution. At its core is a bamboo spring that embodies both mechanical ingenuity and aesthetic elegance, translating natural tension into smooth, counter-force movement. This unique construction allows the lamp to move freely across three axes with effortless, one-handed operation, delivering precise, focused illumination while maintaining balance through a stable base. Its design draws inspiration from the half-arch forms of traditional wooden leaf springs used in old carriages, reinterpreted through contemporary craftsmanship. The result is a fusion of history and innovation, an object that is both functional and poetic. Developed through extensive prototyping and experimentation, the Eco Springwood Lamp is the culmination of numerous design iterations, each refining the relationship between form, material, and movement. The lamp not only provides adaptable lighting but also celebrates the expressive potential of bamboo and wood as dynamic, sustainable materials.
Sustainability ApproachThe Lamp prioritizes sustainability through thoughtful material selection and design for longevity. Crafted from cherry wood and bamboo - both renewable resources - the lamp combines natural strength with elegance. Aluminum connectors, stainless steel screws, and a durable metal base ensure stability and long-lasting performance. Its modular construction allows easy disassembly, repair, and part replacement, supporting a circular economy. All materials are recyclable at end-of-life, reducing waste and carbon footprint while delivering a durable, timeless, and environmentally conscious lighting solution.
