Entry Description

The project is a lighting design aimed at evoking past memories and encouraging users to take action. The illuminated object, combined with light, embodies the sensory and emotional essence of a library, stimulating the user's memories. This experience naturally leads to reading, fostering an immersive engagement. The object and light act as sensory and emotional bridges, inspiring users to feel drawn to books and the act of reading.

The illuminated object helps users to look at books, not lights, and it serves to remind users of the ideal environment for reading. Through the soft lighting that comes out as a combination of wood texture and light, users recall their experience of reading books in the library, which provides motivation to read books.
Sustainability Approach

By recycling walnut wood that would otherwise have been discarded, this design reduces reliance on new resources and uses biodegradable materials to minimize environmental impact. The use of LED light sources ensures high energy efficiency, low heat generation, and a long lifespan, directly supporting carbon reduction and climate action.
Beyond functionality, the design emphasizes emotional sustainability. Through forms that evoke the experience of reading and a warm, inviting glow, it strengthens the emotional bond between user and object. The natural quality of walnut wood, which deepens in tone over time, encourages users to cherish and preserve the piece rather than discard it. Through a multi-layered approach, the lighting fixture conserves energy, enhances efficiency, and strengthens the relationship between users and objects, serving as a sustainable design.
