Entry Description

The architecture of the Nammos hotel in Mykonos draws inspiration from the Italian avant-garde of shipbuilding and naval design of the 50s and 60s and focuses on sleek design lines, functionality and raw materiality but in a polished design and finish.
The main design idea of the custom lighting fixtures is a nod to the classic oil lamp of seafaring ships and the movable curved blades apart from their utilitarian use of directing light are inspired from lighthouses and the division of light in sectors used in their light assemblies.
The family consists of four different typologies, a reading light, a desk lamp, a floor lamp and a sconce. All share the same design elements adapted to the use and help create a unified and distinctive visual identity unique to the Nammos hotel.
The lamps are made of polished brass and a fluted glass cylindrical core that diffuses the light reducing glare. Enveloping the core the curved polished brass blades that rotate around it effectively change the amount and direction of the emitted light and engage the user to appropriate the light and change the mood of the space.
The lighting source used is a high efficiency COB LED in 2700K with a high CRI common in all lighting fixtures ensuring longevity, uniformity and easy maintenance.
