Entry DescriptionViraasat – A Lighting Collection Inspired by Heritage
India’s art and craft heritage is a tapestry of traditions, where each region tells its story through unique materials, forms, and symbolism. These timeless skills, passed down generations, embody cultural identity and artistic excellence.
Viraasat—meaning Heritage—is a lighting collection that reimagines this legacy through contemporary design. Comprising six lamps, each draws inspiration from Indian art forms such as Warli and Pichwai, transforming them into sculptural lights that illuminate both spaces and cultural narratives.
The collection seeks to be a cultural bridge- where the warmth of age-old craftsmanship meets the clarity of modern design. More than décor, these lamps are living artifacts—bringing heritage into today’s homes while making it relevant, desirable, and sustainable.
Viraasat is also a tribute to the artisans whose hands keep these crafts alive, and to the idea that heritage, when contemporized with respect, can become a part of everyday life once again. It invites people not just to own an object, but to embrace a story, a legacy, and a responsibility to preserve.
In reimagining India’s timeless artistry into sustainable luxury, we aspire to let light carry forward what words and time sometimes cannot—the quiet brilliance of heritage, glowing in the present, guiding the future.
Sustainability ApproachViraasat – Sustainable by Design
Viraasat embodies sustainability by combining natural, recyclable, and durable materials with India's heritage crafts. Each lamp is crafted from responsibly sourced wood, recyclable brass, glass, paper, natural dyes, and fabric; materials chosen for their low impact and timeless appeal. Wood adds warmth, brass ages beautifully while being endlessly reusable, and glass offers purity with infinite recyclability. Paper and fabrics, often hand-dyed with plant-based colors, carry forward traditions like Kalamkari while remaining biodegradable. By integrating these materials with indigenous artistry, Viraasat reduces its environmental impact & sustains the livelihoods of artists. It preserves heritage not as a relic, but as living craft, reinterpreted for contemporary homes.
Viraasat shows that true sustainability is born where tradition and innovation meet
