Entry DescriptionThe lighting design for Fan Wei-chi’s 2025 “Between Us” Tour centered on the theme of emotional resonance, creating a sacred yet immersive atmosphere through symmetrical structures and interwoven beams of light.
Linear and radiating arrangements formed a layered dome-like composition, evoking the spiritual grandeur of a cathedral while symbolizing the purity and depth of human emotion. The lighting incorporated motifs of rose petals—rendered in cascading layers that blossomed and receded with the music’s rhythm—reflecting the tender yet powerful emotions conveyed in each song. At the heart of the stage, intersecting beams formed an “X”-shaped focal field, generating a prayer-like sense of intimacy that enveloped the audience in the intertwined energy of light and sound. The overall approach emphasized breath and balance rather than spectacle—achieving depth through simplicity and emotional subtlety within scale.
Sustainability ApproachThe tour’s sustainability challenge lay in mobility and repeated installation. To meet this, the design adopted a modular, detachable lighting system built with lightweight aluminum frames and energy-efficient LEDs, reducing both carbon emissions and energy demand during transport. A centralized programming system enabled quick adaptation of brightness and range to different venues, optimizing power usage. Each tour stop prioritized reused materials and standardized connection points to minimize reconstruction costs and material waste. After each show, lighting modules could be dismantled for recycling or reconfiguration, maximizing lifecycle efficiency. Through this eco-conscious strategy, the tour not only conveyed musical emotion but also embodied cultural resilience and environmental responsibility — demonstrating that sustainability can travel with the music.
