Entry DescriptionThe lighting design for the University of Airlangga's ASEEC Tower crown jewel translate the institution's core values into a luminous architectural language. The concept draws inspiration from the compound eye of a bee - a natural marvel of precision and collective vision - by projecting a complex, crystalline pattern onto the summit's tip.
This effect, reminiscent of the fracturing of light through a prism of knowledge, represents how a single beam of inquiry is expanded into a spectrum of understanding and innovation.
Six synchronized linear lights ascend the facade, representing the structured path of education. Their dynamic effects choreographed in harmony create a rhythmic, data-inspired pulse.
This symbolizes the university's role at the intersection of human intellect and technology - a beacon of progress where structured learning culminates in brilliant, transformative ideas. The entire composition presents the university not just as a place of learning, but as a living, evolving organism of light and knowledge.
Sustainability ApproachOur design philosophy champions "Precision over Power" to minimize environmental impact. We specified high-efficiency, zoomable optical projectors (lens) to accurately illuminate the 35m crown, eliminating wasteful light spill and reducing energy consumption versus conventional solutions. This targeted approach significantly lowers operational carbon emissions.
Furthermore, our artistic vision is realized through precision engineering; dynamic moving-head fixtures generate vast visual narratives with a minimalist array of units. This principle of ‘maximizing expression, not fixtures’ drastically reduces embodied energy from manufacturing, transport, and maintenance, decisively lowering the project's carbon footprint to create a landmark where sustainability is inherent to its aesthetic impact.
