Entry DescriptionThe Stasys Museum in Panevezys emerges not only as a cultural and urban landmark but as a luminous beacon that energizes the cityscape. Its textured façades—crafted from dotted and linear patterned concrete alongside glazed systems—are artfully highlighted by integrated lighting strategies. Along the building’s base, linear inground wall-washers cast light upward, enhancing surface texture and turning the volume itself into a glowing urban element. Additional linear and spot fixtures, discreetly hidden within secondary volumes, sculpt light with precision, elevating landscape features into compositional highlights.
Indoors, the lighting unfolds through a layered harmony: primary illumination is provided by industrial linear fixtures concealed beneath a suspended metal-mesh ceiling. This creates a subtle, even glow, a calm yet rich luminous environment. Complementing this, track-mounted spot lights within exhibition spaces are deployed with care to accentuate artworks—each beam focusing on art pieces without overpowering them.
Together, the interplay of façade, landscape, and interior lighting transforms the Museum into a radiant landmark. As night falls, the building stands out in Panevezys—not just as architecture, but as an ethereal, luminous gesture that guides visitors toward culture and imagination.
Sustainability ApproachThe lighting design of the Stasys Museum follows a strong sustainability approach, prioritizing local production and energy efficiency. Many fixtures were developed in collaboration with Lithuanian manufacturers, reducing transport impact and supporting regional know-how. All luminaires were chosen for their high efficiency, combining low energy consumption with long service life. Indoors, concealed linear fixtures ensure uniform illumination with minimal power demand, while adjustable LED track spotlights allow precise control for exhibitions, avoiding unnecessary light and energy waste. Outdoors, efficient inground linear and spot solutions enhance the façade and landscape while limiting light pollution. Together, these strategies create a luminous, energy-conscious landmark for Panevezys.
