Entry DescriptionThe station was designed carefully illuminating the large volume in public spaces underground with few types of luminaires, creating an uplighting and welcoming ambience. The interior features a double volume space which emulates that of a grand station with minimized columns and supports. Lighting complements the RC soffit and reinforce its spatial quality, a series of pendants with upward and downwards emission suspended below 9m tall reinforced concrete cove at un-ticketed concourse, creates an uplifting cathedral-like spatial quality for commuter’s sense of arrival and wayfinding. The interior features a double volume space and to enable easy access to the M&E services, a network of service booms is hung from the ceiling at 3m, in a configuration that delivers lightings and other services. A special luminaire with vertical PMMA profile optimizes the spread of light, allowing facial recognition by CCTV at gantries, providing general lighting for the entire station concourse. The PMMA is very soft and diffused and does not create glare for the commuters coming up close underneath the service booms. The PMMA luminaires follows that of the service boom configuration carefully and forms part of the wayfinding identity and also reduces the need of clutter or any other form of lighting for the main concourse.
