Entry Description

The Sunrise Project is a contemplative landscape envisioned as the future resting place of a former President of the United States. Rooted in the symbolic concept of the circle of life, the design features concentric pathways that gracefully lead to the central tomb. A granite walkway, subtly illuminated by concealed fixtures beneath custom planter edging, ensures a timeless aesthetic free from visual obsolescence. The lighting gently enhances the space without distraction, fostering a serene and respectful atmosphere. Thoughtfully placed planters with sculpted shrubs divide the walkways, adding depth and reinforcing the cyclical theme. Every element—from the soft contours to the ambient glow—invites quiet reflection and reverence, offering visitors a peaceful journey through a space designed to honor legacy and life’s enduring continuity.
Sustainability Approach

The project features LED ribbon lighting that gently grazes the white granite pathway, achieving high energy efficiency with minimal lumen output. The reflective surface of the granite enhances illumination, enabling compliance with IES standards using the lowest available lumen levels. Thoughtful integration within custom planter edging eliminates uplight, ensuring full dark sky compliance and minimizing light pollution.
