Entry Description

EQUILIBRIO is a lamp based on the balance between gravity and magnetic attraction. Playing
with these fundamental forces the two young Italian designers of OliveLab created a
minimalistic and stunning lamp which functionality is determined by equilibrium.
The simplicity of EQUILIBRIO is achieved thanks to two symmetric tubes. The first is an
anodized aluminium tube, which contains LEDs, the second is a sanded Plexiglass light diffuser.
A ring magnet is placed at the end of each tube. When the two ends are close, the magnetic
force is strong enough to challenge gravity, letting the lamp magically floats in the air, in a
constant state of equilibrium. Only when a perfect balance is achieved, the light will be diffused
in the environment.
The design is clean and simple, balanced also from an aesthetic point of view: white and black,
light and darkness. All design features have been developed to convey a sense of lightness and
harmony.
