Entry DescriptionHygge at The Astrid, inspired by Scandinavian design, offers a serene retreat that harmonizes nature, comfort, and simplicity. Hygge, a concept defined by a sense of well-being derived from a warm and cozy atmosphere, is embodied throughout the complex.
Upon entering, you are greeted by vertical wood slat walls that curve gently, evoking a natural, enveloping feel. Low-wattage luminaires placed between wood slats create a striking lighting effect that reinforces the sense of warmth. Clean, modern lighting integrates within the space, while concealed fixtures highlight special areas and add visual interest.
Decorative pendants, suspended at various heights, create stunning focal points, defining distinct areas, while recessed lighting provides ambient illumination throughout amenity spaces. The lighting design follows the architectural form, reinforcing the thoughtful flow and finishes of the space, without overwhelming the visual field.
Hygge at The Astrid stands as a softly glowing landmark at night, offering a peaceful retreat from the surrounding city. The thoughtful illumination enhances warmth and creates a welcoming atmosphere, reflecting the Hygge philosophy.
Sustainability ApproachThe lighting design followed National Green Building Standards and achieved silver certification. Daylight sensors on the first floor adjust light levels based on available daylight, reducing energy use. Intuitive controls in common areas promote ease of use for both residents and facility managers, while amenity spaces offer flexible, preset dimming scenes to enhance comfort and efficiency. The design supports a sustainable, user-focused environment aligned with the project’s “hygge” concept of warmth, simplicity, and well-being.
