The design team/owner were going for LEEDTM Silver. Each area of the two-story, 28,675-sqft car dealership—from showrooms, conference rooms, service area and café, including stairwells, janitor’s closet, restrooms and some areas with just one fixture—was broken out on a spreadsheet showing the 90.1 LPD recommendation, a design target 30% and 40% under 90.1. For example, the Subaru showroom uses 0.85 watts/sqft, half the level of 90.1; the customer lounge uses 0.40 watts/sqft, 66% below the 90.1 target; while the employee café uses 0.59 watts/sqft, 55% under 90.1. Rolling all the spaces together, the project shaves more than 30% in energy use off the 90.1 target. The project shaves more than 30% in energy use off the 90.1 target.
