Entry DescriptionThe lighting design of this flagship boutique was conceived as a subtle dialogue between French refinement and the cultural depth of Chengdu.
Inspired by the space's layered architecture and the tea rituals embedded in the local identity, the lighting narrative guides visitors through a sensorial and ceremonial journey.
Each area, bridal, icons, high jewelry, or tea house, has its own rhythm and emotional signature. Light reveals the textures, supports the flow between spaces, and enhances the unique character of each collection without ever overpowering it. The design avoids ostentation: instead, it plays with transparency, glow and shadow, to cultivate intimacy, elegance, and discretion.
Fixtures are integrated with precision to highlight architectural details and materials, champagne-toned metalwork, carved wood, handwoven fabrics, while ensuring seamless functionality for a luxury retail environment. The result is an atmosphere that elevates the brand experience through light: immersive, tailored, and culturally rooted.
Sustainability ApproachWe convinced the boutique manager that lower lighting levels than local habits would not reduce footfall but would enhance the brand’s refined image. This made possible to decrease showcase lighting from 4000 to 2000 lux, resulting in the use of smaller fixtures, and diminished W/sqm consumption.
This approach aligns with the boutique’s sustainability policy. All lighting fixtures use high efficiency and quality LEDs combined with precise optics. Locally made fixtures reduced transport emissions and supported artisanal craftmanship. Fixtures are durable and easily repairable, made with carefully chosen materials, to ensure long-term performance and low failure rate over the boutique’s lifespan.
