Entry Description

Science World is Vancouver’s most iconic building.

OH! is an interactive art installation that allows participants to affect the night skyline by controlling the existing lights on the building in real time.

When you touch the small interactive model, you are really affecting the whole city.

The installation promotes a space for social interaction and entices people to be present and feel connected to where they live and also with other participants around them.

There are 240 sensors installed on the scale model that capture the movement of hands that come into close proximity 25 times per second. The data from all the sensors is then sent to the building through a cellular network where a computer running a custom application written by Tangible Interaction turns the information into stunning animations.
