Entry DescriptionThe Knightsbridge flagship challenged us to position a high-street brand within Brompton Road — one of the world’s most recognised luxury retail corridors, home to icons such as Harrods, Harvey Nichols, the Bulgari Hotel, and One Hyde Park. The lighting was conceived as more than functional retail illumination: it became a strategic design instrument.
What appears as soft washes and effortless product presentation is underpinned by rigorous technical work. Light sources with the highest CRI and R-values were chosen to honour the hero product — the sheepskin boot — with absolute fidelity. Architectural details were calibrated to conceal luminaires seamlessly within the fit-out, making the execution appear natural while carrying the discipline of luxury design.
The result is a retail landscape of floating islands, luminous walls, and a vibrant stair that embodies UGG’s values of warmth, comfort, and ease. More than enhancing visibility, the lighting positions UGG confidently within its context — demonstrating that thoughtful, precise, and psychologically attuned illumination can redefine the presence of a high-street brand in one of the world’s most demanding luxury settings.
Sustainability ApproachSustainability was addressed through both technical design and product choice. Products were selected not only for performance but also for their manufacturers’ sustainability commitments. The luminaire manufacturer provides high-fidelity light modules that deliver efficient product display lighting while meeting TM65 and TM66 circularity standards. The Manufacturer’s Renewal Program supports ongoing maintenance and ensures fittings are upgraded, reused, or recycled rather than discarded. Most luminaires are produced locally, reducing transport impact and enabling shorter lead times — essential in retail where downtime must be minimal. From the onset, access and ease of maintenance were embedded into the lighting design and coordinated with GRP ceiling coves and organic geometries, ensuring installation delivered optimal performance, aesthetic quality, and long-term serviceability.
