Entry DescriptionUliving Student Housing is a network of student accommodations designed to create a comfortable and safe environment, facilitating student adaptation and promoting integration and learning. The architectural project defined a rectangular volume with a central void to maximize land use and create views and spatial relationships. This volume consists of transitional rings, from private spaces to collective areas of greater interaction.
The lighting project reinforces these intentions, adapting to different ambiances: indicating paths, motivating interactions and introspections, and providing high visual comfort. In the private spaces of the perimeter ring, flexible lighting provides different environments depending on usage. In the intermediate ring, indirect light fills the space, and direct light highlights work areas. In the corridors of the last ring, direct and indirect lighting avoids glare, promoting interactions and bringing dynamism to the space. In the central courtyard, lighting under the benches and discreetly illuminated landscaping complete the nighttime landscape.
In the common areas, lighting highlights accesses, paths, and focal points, providing comfort and functionality. The lighting was planned from the project's conceptual phase, addressing technical and emotional aspects, and facilitating architecture, project management and other consultants
Sustainability ApproachThe lighting project was developed from the start of the architectural design, preventing waste, reducing transport. Only three lighting suppliers were used, saving on transportation and reducing carbon emissions. All fixtures are LED with warranties of 3 to 5 years. Maximizing light delivery was a priority. Flexible fixtures offer multiple lighting solutions, reducing their quantity. Downlights were placed only where necessary. Aluminum fixtures were left unpainted to eliminate an extra manufacturing step.Presence sensors were used in apartment corridors, access stairs, garages, and general corridors. Circuits in the main corridors of the third ring were divided so that only half of the wall lamps are lit from 10 PM to 6 AM. To reduce light pollution, landscape lighting fixtures will be installed in the tree canopies as they grow.
