Entry Description

Liminal redefines room dividers by incorporating ambient LED lighting to blur the boundaries between spaces. Each panel features a central cutout with translucent silk fabric, progressively shrinking in size, creating layered depth when viewed from different angles. When folded, the fabric layers and LEDs produce captivating light and shadow effects, offering both privacy and connection. When fully opened, Liminal serves as an ambient light fixture, enhancing interior designs by creating soft, gradient lighting that adapts to different spatial configurations. This design introduces a liminal space—a gentle transition between areas—rather than a stark division. The warm LED lighting subtly diffuses through the fabric, creating an intimate atmosphere while maintaining functionality. Liminal Light not only enhances spatial aesthetics but also addresses the balance between privacy and openness in shared environments, fostering social interaction through innovative design.
Sustainability Approach

Liminal prioritizes sustainability through the use of recyclable wood panels and energy-efficient LEDs, which reduce environmental impact and ensure long-term durability. The design minimizes waste by utilizing easily renewable and recyclable materials, while the low-energy LED lights contribute to energy conservation. The simple, efficient production process—featuring CNC machining for wood and laser cutting for fabric—supports eco-friendly manufacturing practices. These choices promote a balance between aesthetic appeal, functionality, and environmental responsibility.
