Entry DescriptionOur site is located in an industrial complex that is crowded with factories, warehouses, and IT offices; the atmosphere of the neighborhood hadn’t been so friendly to the public. After the redevelopment of the site, the project offers a green space for all to relax and slow down their busy lives ultimately result in public space being used more frequently. A large landscape area has been created and filled with a lot of trees and plants, the lighting scheme is to emphasize and amplify its green characteristic so visitors can have a quiet moment in a restful light forest environment. The landscape zones are divided into three sections: Public open spaces, inner garden and sunken areas, and rooftop gardens. For public open spaces, pathways are lit evenly to give a sense of safety, while groups of trees are illuminated for a more dramatic effect and recreated natural lighting effect and cast shadows of the tree leaves and branches on the buildings’ elevations that make the space look more abundant in the inner garden space. Rooftop garden is more for office employees, minimum tree lights and object lights were used in proportion to its usage frequency and avoids too much light pollution. Soft 2700K color temperature was chosen for the overall artificial lighting to be homogeneous with greens.
Sustainability ApproachSince the area is large, most of the light fixtures specified are low-voltage lighting even though it has more complexity than line voltage system for wiring and construction due to its dramatic lower energy consumption and longer life; well-controlled lighting effects such as even dimming without flickering – this is also helpful in reducing maintenance costs in the long run. Adding timers ensures that lights are only on when needed, reducing energy use and light pollution. Additionally, strategically planned light fixture layouts in terms of illuminated volumes depending on the necessities of each zone, it optimizes the proper amount of brightness throughout the site.
