Entry DescriptionOirase Mountain Stream, a scenic site in Tohoku, Japan. The lounge and activity space of a resort hotel next to the stream have been renovated. There are overlooking the stream, has an organic interior design that seems to incorporate the view of the stream.
The lighting design is based on the image of being surrounded by a gentle stream of water, with indirect lights installed on the walls, ceiling, and floor. Linear lights are installed on just one side of the indented surfaces of ceiling and walls, so while the impression of soft light is felt from the front of lounge, the impression of a strong contrast of light is felt when seen from the back of lounge. This light orientation produces a directional effect resembling the flow of stream. Controllable spotlights with mixing colors and dimming illuminate the central symbolic artwork, syncing color and brightness with the outdoor natural light, enhancing the sense of nature. The activity space hosts nature experiences and workshops, featuring a 400mm diameter base light with a gently curved frame that seamlessly connects to ceiling. This lighting program adjusting color temperature and brightens as if natural light being taken in. The corridor illuminates according to irregular pattern that is express the atmosphere of natural.
As such, LED lights throughout the lounge are designed to evoke the grandeur of a mountain stream.
