Entry DescriptionOQ Trading’s workspace is a welcoming and collaborative space, where the lighting design works in harmony with the overriding narrative.
The interior scheme plays with the concept of the flow of energy found in nature and features fluid forms and organic tones. The lighting scheme leans into this design narrative and helps to bring a sense of depth and visual interest to the aesthetic.
The interplay of light and architecture evokes a sense of arrival in the reception, where the curved edges of a coffer ceiling have been highlighted with soft lines of light. Minimalist downlights and recessed spotlights provide an additional layer of ambient light and blend subtly into the background, allowing a theatrical cluster of cylindrical pendants to set the tone.
Curved lines of light run throughout the entire scheme, uniting the communal areas and connecting spaces with a consistent design language. Elegant and harmonious, this steady flow of light becomes an energizing current that helps to aid transitions and animate each space.
In the open-plan work area, can-style light fittings and suspended lines of light provide functional illumination and offset the glare from screens below. The scheme is primarily disciplined, except for a flowing wave of light that runs along the circulation route to improve permeability.
Sustainability ApproachAll the lighting within the scheme has a clear purpose and has been used to improve the user experience or enhance the visual aesthetic. The lighting control system has been designed to optimise the lighting design to minimize energy usage where possible.
