Entry Description

Mother! is centered around anthropomorphism. I like to think that every object is living and lives its own life, it transmogrifies. Each time you look at Mother! you may interpret a new perspective. Some may see a tooth, others a microphone, or perhaps a rib cage. For me, it is a mother. It is a host. A system that creates life. The porcelian represents where life inhabits and the metal is the bones.

It is made from glossed porcelian that is wrapped tight by a rib cage of machined stainless steel metal. It is a balance between grotesque and ugly both at once. It employs heavy duty fabrications and techniques to make corperal forms that are simultaneously chic, erotic and alien.

Sustainability Approach

Mother! follows a small-scale and hand-made production process, minimising material waste and carbon footprint.

Mother! is predominately porcelain, a raw material known for its durability and longevity, positively impacting its environmental impact in its life span.

Through sustainable design processes and conscious material selection Mother! employs an ethical sustainability approach.
