Entry DescriptionThe Neoteric is a handcrafted pendant made using repurposed steel with an emphasis on exceptionally engineered illumination output.
While developing the Neoteric we had the guiding ethos and concept of ‘100 years young?. The result is at the crossroads of a perfectly preserved object from years past, matched with the contemporary.
It features a concentrated light source that’s designed to enhance a space through incredible focus, enhance skin tones, heighten mood, and to also reduce illumination waste through its pinpoint intimate amber glow.
We created a highly conceptual design where extraneous illumination output/light pollution was equally as considered as material waste. So, when designing we said ‘no!? to excess usage of energy, excess waste and flooding a space with too much light. Neoteric is a pendant that pinpoints stunning pools of light in a rare 2200k ultrawarm, glare-free focus (CRI 90, Narrow 24? beam, 3W).
Neoteric is lighting design of exceptional quality, akin to the artistry and craftsmanship of yesteryear, juxtaposed with the innovative technological advancements of today. Too often the illumination output, ethos and technical aspects are an afterthought. The energy efficient attributes, considered thinking and impressive aesthetic have created a harmonious marriage between personality, performance and practicality.
Sustainability ApproachThis is a pendant where a low footprint is at the forefront. Repurposed steel, a small chain of local suppliers and custom lighting filters were a cornerstone in developing the easily-assembled design. This has directly lead to a reduced impact on resources. When designing we aimed to minimise light pollution - not just the waste in energy use but in flooding a space with too much light. We have produced a novel way to accurately cast light in an energy efficient fashion while using a bespoke filter to create a warm glow. These filters also last up to 200 times longer, extending the life of the product massively. The use of scrap steel harbours a rustic and genuinely authentic feel, further heightening the design and circular economy ethos.
