Entry Description

Lighting for the new French International School promotes an optimum learning and teaching environment. Visual comfort and functionality are of the highest importance to promote interaction and communication. The lighting design integrates with the FIS’ building concept by:
• Generous yet controlled introduction of natural light
• Reducing contrast ratios, e.g. desk to whiteboard
• Avoidance of glare due to direct sunlight, reflections or bright skies
• Integration of artificial lighting to supplement, not to replace daylight
• Limiting exposure to blue-light spectrum from LED light sources

Lighting design keys:
• Daylight as primary light source in the school
• Artificial lighting supplementing daylight availability
• Integration of lighting into architectural language
• Inspirational lighting & Light to Learn
• Differentiation and zoning
• Reoccurring shapes and lighting typology throughout the building
