Entry Description

Creativity abounds at this gym where guests are highlighted as actors onstage on a Metropolis-inspired futuristic set. The designers needed to create a bold space on a tight schedule and budget.
From street view, an existing RGB color-changing uplight in the entry portal is set to a memorable red.
Each machine is lit dramatically with warm accent lights. Theatrical spots create steep angles, enhancing muscle definition as guests exercise.
Columns stripped to the beam are lit with a repurposed accent grazing each face. Perforated cages create a scrim-like effect while exposed steel and fireproofing reinforce the industrial feel.
The designer worked with an artist on a large art piece by testing materials to select a translucent acrylic for fan blades and adding rings of light programmed to blue to create strong contrast to amber tones throughout the gym. Copper-painted structural elements shimmer thanks to linear amber LED uplights along the beams.
Slashes of light on reflective lockers create an energetic pattern; the bounce light provides general lighting in the room. Blue gel on Linear LED uplights create contrast above.
Unlike the theatrical interiors, backlit mirrors and vanity task lighting create a soft glow.
Mirrored wall etched with a U is hit by a Leko like a set piece hanging on stage: the perfect emblem of a unique space that celebrates each individual who enters.
