Entry DescriptionThe Shanghai Conservatory of Music Huaihai Road Campus features historic buildings with unique architectural styles, unified by a cohesive lighting design using floodlighting and internal illumination.
Buildings 1189 and 1209 highlight their red brick facades through various lighting techniques that enhance nighttime visibility. Linear lights wash the bricks and highlight vintage window contours. Discreet in-ground lights achieve a “see light, not fixtures” effect, while surface-mounted window lights use pre-installed conduits for optimal illumination without obstructing windows. Soft floodlighting enhances the buildings' warmth, and uplighting along Building 1209's corridor creates order.
Building 1199 employs intelligent control with a sound and light synchronization system, merging historical architecture with modern technology. Large third-floor windows project colored light that dances with music, immersing students and visitors in the campus atmosphere.
Building AB, the main music venue, features uplighting that makes the architecture appear majestic at night. Continuous linear lights illuminate warm stone walls, while ground lights accentuate columns, creating a complete silhouette.
Through intelligent control and musical interactions, the campus aims to create a high-end, technologically advanced nighttime environment, becoming a gem along Huaihai Road.
Sustainability Approach1.Preservation in Historical Areas: Restoration in heritage zones uses a minimal intervention approach, preserving cultural relics while enhancing campus safety. Efficient LED lights replace traditional fixtures.
2.Smart Lighting Control: Buildings feature intelligent lighting and control systems for improved user comfort.
3.Decorative Lighting Design: Some buildings use colored lighting to create an elegant atmosphere, synchronized with music for rhythmic beauty.
4.Energy-Efficient Products: All fixtures utilize high-efficiency LED lights to reduce energy use.
5.Design Energy Saving: Lighting levels harmonize with the nightscape, using suitable fixtures for optimal results while enhancing energy efficiency.
6.Management Energy Saving: Fixtures are switched on or off at different times to meet practical needs and conserve energy.
