Entry Description‘Red Rock’ is a new construction Home at Summerlin, a Residential Development Northwest of Las Vegas. The Permanent Residence is nestled into the ground, adjacent to the Golf Course backed by the Red Rock layered Mountain Range, and with a spectacular view toward the Vegas Strip at night.
Following strong organizational and material concepts, the 100x100 ft block is formally pushed and pulled - with a sunken pool and a protruding deck. The family lives over three stories; they entertain and relax at the lower level, live at the main ground level and sleep on the upper level.
The cast in place concrete allows for an open floor plan and to withstand the dynamic weather of the arid desert environment, with intense daylight, heat, and drastic winds. Perforated movable steel panels shield and filter the daylight washing through the large floor to ceiling window openings, which encourage the indoor-outdoor living and lifestyle of the young and active family of six.
The Lighting concepts support the minimal contemporary architectural language, with strategies working in tandem with the architectural organization, and light extending the daylight into the night; linear lighting integral to architectural detailing, is balanced with vintage fixtures and collectable choices, which add an eclectic presence to the spaces, softening for a homey feel, rendering at the human scale.
Sustainability ApproachHigh performing LED technology throughout ensures highest quality, efficiency, and versatility in adapting to need and mood.
This is made possible through a tightly calibrated Home Control System by Crestron, controllable via wall and remote controls throughout. This home being a new construction home in a new development, located North West of Las Vegas does not entertain Circular Economy or Refitted choices in product or integration.
It's material and product selections are of a highest quality, one that will last and will not need re-fitting or exchange in the near future. Vintage items - funiture and lamps add to the interiors; high quality - in design and make, which found their new home at this residence.
This is a form of sustainability, counting on high quality, craft, design and make, which lasts and for now found their home here, or could move onto other places.
